Overview
The Faculty of Mathematics is seeking to appoint an IT Technician to provide IT support services to the Faculty. The IT Technician provides a range of professional support services to staff across the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP) and the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics (DPMMS). The Departments collectively employ just over 100 academic staff, more than 110 research staff, nearly 90 professional services staff, and additionally provides support to our student community.
Responsibilities
* Be the first point of contact for IT support in all aspects of computing and Audio Visual (AV).
* Provide IT support services to staff across DAMTP and DPMMS.
* Collaborate with the IT team to deliver professional support services and contribute to the success of the IT department.
Qualifications and skills
* Strong customer service skills and interpersonal abilities; able to work well in a team.
* An understanding of a range of computer systems, including Windows and Networking, would be beneficial.
* The role would suit someone already working in IT. Understanding of the University of Cambridge and University systems would be beneficial but is not essential.
* Full training will be provided to help you learn and grow in the role.
Development and working arrangements
This role offers opportunities to develop IT and customer service skills while contributing to the IT team. We encourage team members to develop relevant skills through training in agreement with the line manager.
