About the Role
As a Civil Structural Engineer, you will join the Power & Energy and Railway Electrification team, supporting the delivery of structural design across multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
You will be responsible for technical design, oversight and design assurance across substations, renewable energy schemes and associated civil and structural assets.
This role offers exposure across the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and concept design through to detailed design and construction support. You will work closely with electrical, civil and geotechnical teams to deliver integrated, buildable solutions.
There is an abundance of work to get after and you will be busy from the off. The team is still growing on the energy department making this a strong opportunity to develop yourself and support junior team members.

The key requirements for this Civil Structural Engineer role are:
- Deliver civil and structural design for substations, transformer foundations, gantries, plinths and cable management systems
- Coordinate with civil teams on highways and drainage design packages
- Prepare and manage calculations, drawings, specifications and technical documentation
- Undertake design reviews and independent checks to maintain quality standards
- Ensure compliance with Eurocodes, BS EN, National Grid, DNO and Network Rail standards
- Incorporate CDM and Health & Safety considerations throughout the design process
- Support projects from feasibility through to detailed design and construction support
- Work collaboratively across multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Act as a structural engineering contact for clients when required
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and sustainability in design

Experience required for this Civil / Structural Engineer role are:
- Minimum 2+ years' experience within a design consultancy environment
- Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Working towards Chartered status with ICE or IStructE
- Strong understanding of UK design codes and standards
- Experience using structural analysis and design software such as Tekla TEDDS, Robot or similar
- Ability to manage technical deliverables and meet project deadlines

Desirable knowledge, skills and experience for this Civil / Structural Engineer role are:
- Experience working on substations, power infrastructure or railway electrification projects
- Exposure to National Grid or DNO specifications
- Site experience supporting construction phases
- Full UK driving licence
