With a 5‑star RISQS rating and a team of PTS‑accredited ecologists, the company is known for delivering high‑quality ecological solutions for projects of all scales, from small developments to major national infrastructure. Their client portfolio includes private individuals, large companies, house builders, and government bodies. Their extensive expertise spans phase 1 habitat surveys, ecological impact assessments, protected species surveys, and habitat regulations assessments, among other services.
Role Description
This is a full‑time hybrid role based in Canterbury/Maidstone (office location tbc), with flexibility for partial remote work. The Ecologist will be responsible for conducting field surveys, including protected species and habitat surveys, botanical assessments, and ecological impact assessments. The role involves working on a variety of projects, coordinating closely with clients, preparing comprehensive ecological reports, and advising on environmental management and compliance. The Ecologist will also play a role in designing mitigation strategies and ensuring adherence to legislative and regulatory frameworks.
Qualifications
* Proficiency in wildlife identification and ecological knowledge, with a focus on protected species and their habitats
* Expertise in field work and botany, including habitat surveys and on‑site assessments
* Strong report writing skills for compiling detailed and accurate ecological impact assessments
* Experience with conducting Environmental Impact Assessments and similar ecological evaluations
* Knowledge of relevant legislation, licensing, and ecological mitigation strategies
* Bachelor’s degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field; a higher degree is a plus
* Membership or eligibility for membership with the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM)
* Proficiency in GIS mapping and spatial data analysis is advantageous
* Full UK driving license and the ability to travel for fieldwork and project requirements
