As a Senior RME Technician, you'll help us stay one step ahead by adopting the latest technologies and identifying new, efficient ways of working. In this role, you'll pay close attention to our processes to help maintain our high standards and implement upgrades to elevate those standards further.
Key Job Responsibilities
1. Demonstrate best practices in equipment safety and monitor teams to ensure proper process adherence.
2. Monitor equipment performance through visual checks, condition-based monitoring, and preventative maintenance, scheduling additional servicing as needed.
3. Supervise technicians on shift, support their development, and serve as the first point of contact for Reliability Maintenance Engineers.
4. Resolve equipment issues to minimize downtime and support efficient package processing.
5. Contribute to system improvements and standardize processes across the EU network.
A day in the life
In every shift, you'll lead a team to ensure equipment availability and proper functioning. This involves monitoring processes for compliance, conducting preventative maintenance to maximize uptime, and suggesting improvements for efficiency. You will also use tools like Scada to monitor performance and work closely with your line manager on administrative tasks.
This role is based at an operational site with shift patterns, including some weekends and nights. As you gain experience, there are opportunities for advancement into more senior roles.
About The Team
Our Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs equipment across Amazon's global fulfillment centers. We work on installing automated systems, maintaining site operations, and repairing distribution equipment, all while ensuring safety and compliance. There are ample opportunities for career progression within the RME team and across Amazon.
Our focus is on reducing downtime to ensure timely customer deliveries. We often perform maintenance during off-peak hours, including night shifts, and are open to developing innovative processes and adopting cutting-edge technologies like Amazon Robotics and the Complex Item Sorter.
Basic Qualifications
* Full Engineering indentured Apprenticeship and/or qualification to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant Engineering subject.
* Relevant experience in a technical leadership role.
* Experience in electrical and mechanical disciplines.
* Experience with automation or material handling equipment environments.
* Proficiency in verbal and written English.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working in multi-contractor, multi-site environments.
* Understanding of PLC control systems and statutory compliance.
* Experience using computerized maintenance management systems for planning and recording maintenance tasks.
* Degree in a technical or operational discipline is preferred.
