About the Opportunity
A specialist independent provision that supports pupils with Autism and associated needs (aged 4:19 years) is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a permanent, full:time basis.
Role Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Hours: 36.75 hours per week, full:time. Part:time working (3 or 4 days, including Tuesday) is also considered.
Holiday: 56 days school holiday + Bank holidays.
This is a training role. You will start as a 1:1 TA and over 1:2 years will be given the training and qualifications to become a member of the teaching team.
Job Overview
You will be based in a specialist school setting, supporting autistic pupils using behaviourally based instruction and positive reinforcement techniques to accelerate learning. Working within small classes, your role will involve:
* Providing teaching and support to autistic pupils, following individualised curriculum.
* Planning, preparing, and delivering lessons and activities.
* Designing, planning, and delivering teaching sessions to encourage pupil development.
* Providing behaviourally based instruction to pupils, following behaviour guidelines.
* Encouraging personal and environmental hygiene, including providing personal care (toileting, feeding) as necessary.
* Working in a group or on a 1:1 basis, using specialised support plans to help pupils meet their individual needs.
* Contributing to the production and maintenance of curricular and teaching materials.
* Progressing personal development through practical and theoretical training.

Essential Requirements
* All applicants for this position must have the following to be considered:
* Minimum Grade C/4 GCSE, or equivalent, in English Language and Maths.
* Professional, personal, or voluntary experience of working with children and disabilities.
* Comfortable working with children who exhibit challenging behaviour.
* Comfortable supporting others with personal/intimate care where required.
* Ability to keep calm in high:pressure situations.
* A positive, can:do attitude.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
* Eligibility to work in the UK.
