Are you able to spend a few hours a week to help maintain our garden?
We are seeking a volunteer to assist with our garden maintenance.
The days for this opportunity are flexible; specific days will be arranged upon enquiry and are adaptable to weather conditions. Basic gardening and DIY skills are required.
Day services are provided in community settings. The service aims to support people with disabilities to regain or learn skills, build confidence, and achieve personal goals.
This volunteering role is subject to a DBS check. To qualify, you must have been a resident in the UK for the past 3 years.
* Applicants must be willing to undergo an induction process, including relevant background checks and an enhanced DBS check (which will be free of charge).
* After applying online, one of our Volunteer Officers will contact you to arrange your DBS check.
As a Gardening Assistant volunteer, you will be encouraged to:
* Assist residents in tending small garden areas, such as planting and maintaining spring/summer pots and baskets.
* Participate in general maintenance and basic garden DIY with the group.
* Support, encourage, and empower service users to achieve their specific goals.
* Spend time chatting with residents to help combat loneliness.
* Log volunteering hours monthly and submit expenses online where applicable.
* Complete required training, such as safeguarding, and commit to further relevant training.
* Receive relevant training provided for this role.

* Basic knowledge of gardening, planting, or DIY
* Friendly and approachable nature
* Caring attitude
* Respect for confidentiality
Training:
Training will be provided as needed, which may include peer support, distance learning, or trainer-led sessions.
Volunteers must complete the necessary training before participating in activities and may be required to refresh training periodically.
