We’re seeking a Project Quantity Surveyor to join a leading UK engineering organisation working on some of the most exciting and technically challenging projects in the country. From defence and nuclear to aerospace, sports, and large-scale infrastructure, this is an opportunity to be part of a business that designs and delivers complex, high-profile mechanical handling and kinetic architecture systems.
The Role
As Project Quantity Surveyor, you’ll be central to the commercial success of major engineering projects. This role reports into the Commercial Director and offers the chance to play a vital part in projects that genuinely push the boundaries of engineering.
You’ll manage budgets, administer contracts, forecast costs, and provide commercial insight that helps projects deliver safely, compliantly, and profitably. Collaborating closely with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders, you’ll ensure risks are managed, opportunities are maximised, and costs are controlled without compromising on quality.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain project budgets, track spend, and prepare cost reports
* Forecast future costs and provide accurate commercial insight
* Review and administer contracts, ensuring compliance and managing variations
* Negotiate pricing and support change control processes
* Identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options to drive efficiencies
* Collaborate with technical teams to deliver cost-effective solutions
* Provide stakeholders with clear updates on budgets and commercial performance
What We’re Looking For
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Project Management, or Engineering (or equivalent experience)
* Strong analytical skills with an understanding of construction/engineering practices
* Experience with NEC and JCT contracts (NEC experience is particularly valued)
* Commercial experience in engineering or large structural projects (defence, nuclear, bridges, infrastructure etc.)
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Proficiency in relevant software and project management tools
