A Little More About Your Role
* Your Role – We are looking for a French speaking senior consultant – regulatory economics to join our Energy Advisory team and support deliver our UK and global portfolio of energy transition and development projects – a number of which are located in francophone countries.
* Projects – You will be supporting stakeholders across the electricity sector, including for example:
o Utilities with price control submissions and rate design
o Regulators with the review of rate applications and determination of allowed rate of return and revenues
o Investors and project owners with economic and financial analysis underpinning their business plans and investment decisions
Responsibilities and expectations
Project Delivery and Management
* You will contribute to delivering our growing portfolio of clean energy projects, with a focus on delivering economic analysis and modelling tasks. This will involve working within teams to achieve client satisfaction, timely delivery, strong project financial performance and high-quality technical outputs.
* Where appropriate, you will be responsible for project management and/or task lead in line with processes and governance, working in a matrix team environment. This will include project team mobilisation and leadership, project governance, reporting, client liaison, and ensuring quality review.
* You will support and in instances lead the development of technical proposals with an energy advisory component and provide ad‑hoc support across the wider team.
Technical Delivery & Leadership
* You will be supported and expected to continually develop your technical expertise in clean energy and energy economics and provide to projects where required and aligned to areas of specialism.
* You will write thorough and concise reports on complex topics and projects to a high professional standard.
* You will be supporting and reviewing the technical work of more junior team members, providing constructive feedback and supporting development.
Client Relationships & Thought Leadership
* You will be expected to develop and maintain strong client relationships and networks, through project delivered as well as through sector networking. Support key account management to maintain and grow client relationships.
* You will support the wider team in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities within the energy and industrial sectors.
* You will be expected to provide thought leadership on relevant energy topics, e.g. through blogs and articles.
* Some UK and/or international travel may be required, for example for project meetings, sector conferences etc.
Essential
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
* Degree level or higher in STEM subject, with a preference for economics or finance or a related discipline, or directly relevant industrial experience in these subjects.
* Fluency in French and English and excellent communication skills, including excellent written French and English in report writing, verbal presentation, and stakeholder engagement.
* Experience in energy sector regulatory economics (i.e. price control reviews, cost of service studies) and corporate finance (e.g. cost of capital).
* Consultancy or advisory experience within the public and private sector, or demonstratable experience that is applicable to consultancy.
* Good understanding of energy systems, regulation and markets, including power and/or clean fuels – in the UK as a minimum.
* Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
* Excellent time management with the ability to juggle time across multiple projects and prioritise deadlines seamlessly.
Desirable
* Experience in building projects and securing work.
* Ability to utilise existing sector contacts in Francophone and English‑speaking countries to support new opportunities and build trust‑based relationships with clients and potential partners.
* Experience with clean energy, energy infrastructure transition and renewable energy systems is highly desirable.
* Ability to work in other languages (particularly Spanish or other European languages) is an asset.
