Senior Pharmacy Technician – HMP Gartree
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Gartree, a category B prison located in Market Harborough, Leicestershire. The prison has a capacity of 1,965 males.
About the role
The pharmacy is based within the healthcare department and is responsible for dispensing, ordering, prescription rewriting, stock control, and medication checks. The team consists of four staff members. You will manage a team of five, including a Pharmacy Assistant and a Pharmacy Technician, in a 50/50 clinical and managerial role that requires prior leadership experience.
Hours
* Monday – Sunday service
* 37.5 hours per week
* Weekdays & weekends – 7:30 am to 5:00 pm
* 1 weekend in 4
Salary
Annual salary £40,167 – £48,200, depending on experience. This is a full‑time position.

Responsibilities
* Supervise pharmacy technicians and support the development of junior staff
* Oversee the administration and medicines management, working across our primary care and substance misuse wings
* Provide health promotion advice to prisoners on topics such as smoking cessation, hypertension, healthy living and other minor ailments
Qualifications required
* NVQ Level 3, or above, BTEC or equivalent
* Accuracy Checking Technician qualification
* Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
* Up to date with continued professional development (CPD)
* Relevant post‑qualification pharmacy experience
Ideal applicants will have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
