An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our expanding team as Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Consultant. NHS Ayrshire and Arran are pleased to offer this opportunity for a driven individual as we increase our existing team from six to eight Consultants to meet the ever changing needs of the service.
The successful candidates will complement the current team of six Consultants in ENT, four consultants in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, one visiting Consultant in Restorative Dentistry and one full time and one part time Consultant Orthodontist, who make up the Head and Neck Directorate.
This is offered as a full time permanent position. We are a strong team with diverse specialist skills and experience who support each other and our patients as we strive to deliver the best possible care.
ENT, as a specialty, is part of the Head & Neck Directorate within Surgical Services which is part of Acute Services. Adult and Paediatric Emergency and elective ENT services are provided to the Ayrshire & Arran catchment population of 375,000 residents.
Responsibilities
* Provide clinical care in general adult and paediatric ENT, working with a team of established surgeons including Head and Neck Cancer Surgeons and Cochlear Implant surgeons.
* Participate in the National Cochlear Implant Service and in specialist clinics such as the middle ear implant clinic, neck lump and head and neck oncology clinics, cochlear clinic and balance clinic.
* Participate on the consultant on-call rota (currently 1:6, expected to reduce to 1:8).
* Work with the service and patients throughout all stages – assessment, contributing to MDT working where appropriate, surgery and follow up as required.
* Contribute to service development, clinical audit and research.
Qualifications
* Appropriately experienced applicants must have full GMC Registration and be on the GMC Specialist List in ENT (having undergone higher specialist training) or be able to demonstrate equivalent training and experience.
* Applicants wishing to work fewer programmed activities are welcome.
Benefits and Conditions
The Terms and Conditions of service are those determined by the New Consultant Contract (Scotland) 2004 and sessions are offered on a 10 PA basis.
