HV Electrical Engineer – Electrical & Construction - Hybrid Role
About the Role: NRL are looking for a HV Electrical Engineer to join our clients teams, supporting high-profile substation and transmission construction projects. This hybrid role is centred around our clients Birmingham head office, with travel to project sites across the UK. The role will focus on quality planning, control, inspection, and audit, ensuring compliance with client regulations while helping embed a culture of quality across the business. You will play a key role in implementing our clients Integrated Management System (IMS) and driving continual improvement in project delivery.
12-month rolling contract (likely extension)
£375 per day (LTD, PAYE)
Hybrid role: Working from our clients Birmingham office 2/3 days per week with site travel as required.
Key Responsibilities
* Implement and monitor compliance with company Quality Policies and IMS on projects and sites
* Champion a culture of quality and compliance across engineering and delivery teams
* Develop and review project quality plans, inspection & test plans, and procedures
* Advise project/site management on effective quality assurance and control
* Collect and analyse quality KPIs, ensuring delivery against client and business targets
* Undertake site audits, inspections, and advisory visits; monitor and close out resulting actions
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and external stakeholders
* Identify and promote best practice, feeding lessons learned back into the business
Essential Requirements
* BSc, Diploma, or equivalent in a related engineering discipline
* 5+ years’ experience in a construction environment
Strongly Preferred
* Knowledge of electricity in construction (cabling, transmission, substations)
* Good understanding of data analysis and risk assessment
* Knowledge of CDM Regulations
* Full UK driving licence
* Strong organisational and communication skills
Desirable
* Chartered or working towards chartership with a relevant institution
* National Grid Person Training
* SSEN Cat 1c Training
Contract & Working Pattern
* 40 hours per week (with flexibility for project needs)
* Must be able to arrange own travel and accommodation if required (expenses will be paid for site travel only)
