This is a challenging junior trainee operator role suited for motivated, hands-on maintenance or engineering professionals with experience in fault finding, repair, preventative maintenance, servicing, and fixing plant equipment. You must have operational maintenance experience as a foundation, with training provided for further development. The company offers a long-term career path to develop into a Process Operator through structured, personalized training plans, including safety and engineering qualifications.
The ideal candidate will have:
* Experience as an operator with machinery or as a mechanical technician, including maintenance, servicing, and repairing equipment on site.
* Experience in plant operations within industries such as manufacturing, engineering, water, chemical, petrochemical, oil and gas, nuclear, pharmaceutical, paper manufacturing, or other heavy machinery environments.
* Engineering qualifications such as Mechanical, Electrical, or Electro-mechanical, NVQ, C&G in welding, fitting, pipework, or other hands-on maintenance trades.
* Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle to reach remote sites.
* Eligibility to work in the UK without sponsorship now or in the future.
* Willingness to work a shift pattern of 6am-6pm, 7 days on, 7 days off, and 7 nights on, 7 nights off, within an hour's commute of Alton.
* A genuine desire to learn and develop long-term, with full training provided, including engineering and safety qualifications such as NEBOSH.
The role reports directly to the Maintenance Manager. The primary responsibility is to perform corrective (non-routine) and preventative (routine) maintenance at production facilities and sites in Hampshire. A detailed job description will be provided upon application.
