We're hiring for a Cyber Security Specialist on a 6-month contract, working within a high-impact public sector programme.
In this role, you'll be responsible for operational security and supporting the design, implementation, and development of security controls and systems. You'll ensure that incidents are detected, prioritised, investigated, contained, and remediated, while continuously improving operational security controls. You'll also play a key role in evaluating and advising on emerging cyber threats and developments, applying appropriate security measures across hardware and software assets.
Key responsibilities include:
* Proactively monitoring networks and systems for potential threats
* Leading response activities to minimise the impact of cyber incidents
* Conducting technical investigations into root causes and damage assessments
* Delivering cyber security awareness training and promoting best practices
* Ensuring remediation work identified by IT Health Checks and audits is completed
* Reviewing and improving cyber security policies and implementation
We're looking for someone with proven experience in identifying, investigating, and remediating complex cyber security issues. You should have strong knowledge of firewall and network security, experience working with cloud environments, and an understanding of attacker techniques and cyber kill chain frameworks. Familiarity with threat modelling, ethical hacking, and encryption is essential, along with extensive experience using SIEM solutions. Basic scripting skills are also desirable.
