Substance Misuse Non-Medical Prescriber
About the Role:
As a Forward Trust Substance Misuse Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP), you will play a crucial role in the clinical care of individuals experiencing issues with drug and/or alcohol use. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will independently assess, diagnose, and prescribe appropriate medications to support recovery, including substitute prescribing and detox regimes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive assessments of service users' physical and mental health.
2. Prescribe and review medication related to substance misuse, including opioid substitution therapy and alcohol detoxification.
3. Monitor treatment effectiveness, adherence, and safety, making timely clinical decisions to adjust treatment plans.
4. Provide harm reduction advice and support for safer use, including naloxone distribution.
5. Liaise closely with GPs, mental health professionals, social workers, and other partners to deliver coordinated care.
6. Support service users with co-occurring mental health or physical health conditions.
7. Contribute to service development, quality assurance, and audits.

What you'll bring:
* Registered Nurse or Pharmacist with V300 Independent Prescribing qualification.
* Experience in substance misuse or mental health is highly desirable.
* Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
* Empathy, resilience, and a commitment to recovery-oriented practice.
* Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Excellent communication and record-keeping abilities.
