About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Deputy Manager to join our Ofsted-registered childrens home in Salisbury. The home provides care and support for children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD), many of whom have experienced trauma and require a safe, nurturing, and structured environment.
As Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in leading the home, ensuring the highest standards of care, safeguarding, and compliance. Youll play a key role in supervising staff, implementing care plans, and creating a positive, therapeutic culture that promotes the wellbeing and development of every young person.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring compliance with Ofsted regulations, Childrens Homes Regulations, and Quality Standards.
* Provide strong, supportive leadership to staff, ensuring high standards of practice across the team.
* Oversee and implement individual care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour management strategies.
* Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed and that the welfare of the children remains the top priority.
* Promote a culture of positivity, respect, and trauma-informed practice within the home.
* Assist with staff recruitment, training, supervision, and performance management.
* Take responsibility in the absence of the Registered Manager.
* Build and maintain positive relationships with children, families, external professionals, and regulatory bodies.
* Support the development of the home to achieve and maintain a Good or Outstanding Ofsted rating.
Person Specification
Essential:
* Minimum 2 years experience in residential childcare.
* Supervisory or leadership experience (e.g. Senior Support Worker, Team Leader, Deputy).
* Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young Peoples Workforce (Residential Pathway) or equivalent.
* Working knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and Ofsted regulations.
* Strong communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
* A passion for supporting vulnerable children and young people.
* Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
* Working towards or willing to undertake the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management (Residential Childcare).
* Experience working with children with EBD, trauma, or complex needs.
* Proven ability to contribute to achieving positive Ofsted inspection outcomes.
