Subsea Micropiles is developing innovative foundation solutions for offshore operations, helping build the foundations of a sustainable ocean economy. We are looking for a Senior Engineer to join our growing team and play a key role in the design, development, build, and testing of mechanical systems and structures that support our subsea robotic drilling technology.
The Role
This is a hands-on engineering role where no two projects are the same. You will work closely with project and operations teams to take concepts from early-stage design through prototype, testing, and deployment.
Key responsibilities include:
* Mechanical and structural design of subsea tooling, structures, and mechanisms
* Engineering calculations and analysis, including hand calculations and FEA
* Detailed design, drawing production, and BOM management
* Prototype build support, test planning, and execution
* Integration across mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and controls systems
* Supporting technical documentation, risk assessments, and design reviews
* Improving equipment reliability, manufacturability, and maintainability
About You
We are looking for someone who is curious, capable, hands-on, and safety-focused, with strong subsea structural design experience and the ability to take ownership of engineering packages from concept through to completion.
Essential:
* Degree, HND, or similar in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
* 5+ years’ relevant industry experience
* Strong experience in subsea structural / mechanical design
* Competence in engineering calculations and FEA. (ANSYS preferred)
* Experience with applicable offshore / subsea codes and standards
* CAD / modelling experience (SolidWorks preferred)
* Experience leading design reviews, risk assessments, and technical substantiation
* Right to work in the UK
Desirable:
* Experience with subsea tooling, seabed interaction equipment, drilling or ROV systems
* Chartered status, or working toward Chartership
* Experience with FAT/SIT, offshore trials, and operational readiness
* Familiarity with reliability methods such as FMEA/FMECA
* Vendor management and supplier qualification experience
