Role Purpose
To assist the Environmental Health and Trading Standards Service in managing the Public Mortuary based in Poplar High Street, London E14, and to support the Coroner’s Service in discharging the Council’s duty regarding Public Health funerals.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with casework, post-mortems, and forensic cases, including record-keeping and administrative arrangements.
* Handle high-profile or complex cases as necessary and support the pathologist during post-mortems and forensic investigations.
* Maintain monitoring and reporting systems for performance against targets.
* Work out of hours as required.
* Assist in body reconstruction and cleaning post-mortem for storage or release to undertakers.
* Manage the Parish Funerals process.
Requirements
Skills:
1. Experience in continuing professional development within the Mortuary Service.
2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
3. Well-organized with good administrative and computer skills.
4. Availability to work a 35-hour week and participate in the out-of-hours rota.
Qualifications:
* Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology or equivalent.
