A growing Lloyd’s Syndicate is looking for an (Interim inside IR35) Underwriting Operations Leader where you can help in:
· Shaping how underwriting operations run
· Leading an onshore team and a sizeable offshore function
· Influencing on tech, automation and AI improvements

This role is all about enabling underwriters to be as effective as possible. You’ll make sure the data is clean and timely, the processes are tight, and the operational engine is running smoothly so people across the business can make smart decisions fast.
You’ll lead a team of around 7 onshore and a larger offshore support team. You’ll keep everything moving across submission, quote, bind and post bind. You’ll also sponsor tech improvements, champion automation and make sure the organisation is meeting the regulatory and Lloyd’s standards expected at this level.
This is a senior operational leadership role that touches every part of the underwriting lifecycle. An opportunity for someone who enjoys accountability, variety and influence.
What you’ll be doing:
• Owning the full end to end underwriting operations process
• Leading and developing a mixed onshore and offshore team
• Setting and tracking service levels with Underwriting and Finance
• Ensuring data integrity across core systems
• Producing MI that actually tells a story and drives action
• Reducing the admin burden on underwriting teams
• Driving continuous improvement, consistency and process excellence
• Leading operational readiness for new tech and automation roll outs
• Managing risk, controls, governance and regulatory responsibilities
• Being a key voice in the underwriting operations leadership team
What you’ll bring:
• Strong underwriting operations leadership within the Lloyd’s environment
• Experience running complex processes across multiple teams
• Confidence dealing with senior stakeholders and balancing competing priorities
• A background leading tech or automation change
• Comfortable with SLAs, MI, controls and regulatory responsibility
• Proven success managing both onshore teams and offshore service providers
• Solid budget ownership
• Resilience, pragmatism and the ability to keep things moving even when plans shift

You are immediately available. Have experience of leading an Operations function within the Lloyd's environment. You enjoy structure but you're not rigid with it.
