Overview
Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Customer Care Administrator. The closing date is 28 October 2025. This part-time role is based at NPC Lintonville in Ashington and involves providing a high level of customer service to patients of NPC practices. The successful candidate should have experience in primary care, strong customer service and administrative skills.
Northumbria Primary Care Ltd (NPC) is a pioneering partnership with local GPs and now manages several GP practices with around 120,000 registered patients in Northumberland and North Tyneside. Appointees will have a base practice within NPC but may be asked to work at other practices across the group. NPC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
Responsibilities
* Provide secretarial support to GPs and clinicians; prioritise workload with minimal supervision and maintain good organisational and IT skills.
* Answer telephone calls, respond to enquiries, direct the public as appropriate, and provide admin support to nursing and clinical staff.
* Deal with referrals via the appropriate method (e-referral system) and requests for access to medical records.
* Manage the practice generic inbox and other electronic messaging systems; take meeting minutes as required.
* Cover reception duties when required; assist with administration and support to the team in a busy primary care setting.
* Input confidential information into SystmOne accurately; scan incoming patient information into the electronic patient record.
* Issue invoices for private work and track payments using Microsoft Excel; ensure external mail is posted daily.
* In the absence of staff due to leave or illness, provide cover for the secretarial team.
* Adhere to NPC policies and procedures and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* NVQ level 2 or higher in Customer Service/Administration/Healthcare or equivalent experience
Experience and knowledge
* Knowledge of EMIS or SystemOne
* Understanding of NPC policies & procedures
* Child Protection training
* ECDL (or equivalent)
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office
* Basic Life Support, Moving & Handling & Fire training
