Murphy is recruiting for a Design Engineer - Stress Analyst to work with Murphy Applied Engineering. Performing stress analysis of piping systems using industry-standard software (e.g., CAESAR II).

They design both permanent and temporary works for projects in all our locations and are a trusted source of expert advice for both Murphy colleagues and external customers.

A day in the life of a Murphy Design Engineer - Stress Analyst

* Ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards, including IGEM/TD/12.
* Collaborating with design engineers to optimize piping layouts and support systems.
* Undertaking site visits, conducting field inspections and provide technical support during installation and commissioning phases.
* Preparing detailed stress analysis reports and recommend solutions for identified issues.
* Evaluating material selection, wall thickness, and load conditions to ensure system integrity.
* Staying updated on industry trends, standards, and best practices in piping stress analysis.


Still interested, does this sound like you?

* Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, chartered Engineer with the Institute of Mechanical Engineering (or similar) or working towards chartership.
* Proficiency in stress analysis software and tools.
* Strong understanding of engineering principles, material properties, and mechanics of materials.
* Familiarity with IGEM/TD/12 and other relevant codes (e.g., ASME B31.3, B31.1).
* Experience in Oil & Gas sector and familiarisation with the IGEM Suite of standards for Gas Pipeline and Installations as well as other and International Pipeline codes.
* Experience of interfacing with Clients such as Gas Transmission and Cadent and knowledge of their Specifications and Standards including the G/17 and G/35 design assurance process
* Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
* Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
* Good technical report writing skills suitable for submission to stakeholders.
