Job: Cloud Architect
Salary: £87,000
Location: West London (Heathrow)
Location: Hybrid – 3 days per week in the office
We are looking for a highly experienced Cloud Architect who is both architecturally strong and hands-on in development.
This role is not a pure architect or governance role. The candidate must still actively write production code and design complex distributed systems.
The client specifically wants a small number of exceptional engineers rather than many average profiles.
The MUST HAVES for this role are:
* Strong AWS architecture and development experience
* Hands-on software development (Python, Java or .NET)
* Building event-driven systems (Kafka, EventBridge or similar)
* Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
* Microservices architecture
* REST API design
* SQL and NoSQL databases
* CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
* Containers (Docker / Kubernetes)
Most importantly, candidates must demonstrate they can both design architecture and build it themselves.
Nice to Have
* Experience in aviation or travel technology
* Knowledge of AI / ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn)
* Experience with observability tools (Datadog, New Relic, CloudWatch)
* Multi-cloud experience (Azure or GCP)
* AWS certifications
* Open-source contributions
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be:
* a senior engineer or architect who still codes daily
* comfortable designing complex distributed systems
* able to operate in large enterprise environments
* strong communicator who can influence technical direction
