Job Description
Main Purpose of Job
To deliver outstanding catering and hospitality provision at the College to ensure that achievement and the student experience are exceptional.
Teaching and learning
· To develop and deliver high quality teaching and learning to ensure students are successful in the area of Catering and Hospitality.
· To promote student centred learning, ensuring all students have access to a supportive, differentiated learning environment.
· To embed stretch and challenge so all students reach their full potential.
· To identify and implement strategies to ensure that the student's learning experience is of the highest standard.
School of Catering and Hospitality
· To be involved with the promotion of the School of Catering and Hospitality activities across the College and at external events if required.
· To be involved in the development of the training restaurant and other business initiatives
· To provide enrichment and enhancement activities within the Catering and Hospitality area, if required.
· To support students in their working environments, including the production and larder kitchens.
Pastoral
· To take an active role in the induction and support of students.
· To offer pastoral support to students if required.
· To promote and safeguard the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults.
· To meet the individual needs of all students to ensure all have an equal chance of success.
Personal Development
· To undertake staff development and attend staff meetings as required and requested.
· To accept flexible redeployment and reallocation of duties commensurate with the level of the post.
Person Specification
Qualifications
· Relevant vocational qualifications (professional cooking qualifications required)
· Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards)
· Evidence of continuing professional development
· Assessor/Verifier Qualifications (desirable but not essential as training will be given)
Knowledge/Experience
· Strong vocational background in the catering industry
· Experience of instructing or working with students would be preferable
· Experience of effective team working in a college, training or busy industrial environment
· Ability to develop supportive working relationships with parents and other key stakeholders
Skills/Attributes
· Ability to manage and resolve a range of situations in the best interests of the students
· Ability to contribute to the whole College experience
· Effective communicator
· Flexible approach
· Logical approach to problem solving

· Willingness to work flexible hours if required
Post Information
· Reports to Head of School: Hairdressing, Beauty, Catering and Hospitality
· Salary £31,059 - £45,576 pro rata (Actual salary £4,969 - £7,292)
· Hours – hours teaching ), 52 weeks of the year, Permanent
· The post holder will undertake all duties and responsibilities in compliance with regulatory, legislative and college procedural requirements.
