The Learning Disabilities Daytime Opportunity Service is seeking to recruit self-motivated, enthusiastic team member to join our Catering team at Rhondda Learning Curve.
The service has several centres and projects that provide care and support and meaningful daytime opportunities to individuals with learning disabilities to meet their outcomes. Our vision is to support individuals with a learning disability to gain skills for independence in all areas of their lives.
Individuals with Learning Disabilities play a significant role in our Catering Projects.
A range of practical skills such as menu planning including healthy options, food preparation, kitchen hygiene, customer service, ordering stock, and the handling of money can be gained in this environment.
Additional skills and attributes such as personal presentation, social interaction, developing work ethic, commitment to teamwork, good timekeeping and effective communication can also be secured through the opportunities on offer.
Previous experience of supporting people with a learning disability in a respectful manner is desirable, but not essential. Candidates will be expected to bring their own life experiences and skills to the role, work without exception to The Code of Professional Practice and have a genuine commitment to delivering the highest standard care and support to individual.
You will be required to use ICT resources effectively, have excellent written and verbal skills to maintain records. Also to communicate effectively with individuals in receipt of the service and with health and social care professionals.
You will be provided with an induction, the provision of Social Care qualifications, ongoing training and supervision to support you to conduct your work to the expected standard in a person-centred outcome focused manner.
You will also be required to adhere to and promote safe working practices and always ensure a safe environment.
