We have an exciting opportunity within Community Day Services for two part-time Support Workers, working within the East Kent locality, supporting individuals with learning and physical disabilities to access and be part of their local community while improving and developing essential life skills.

You will be working from hubs as well as within community settings. You will support individuals with learning and physical disabilities to reach their goals by planning outcome-focused sessions. Although your base will be Ashford Community Day Service, you will be required to support other services within the wider East Kent teams as needed.

You will be trained in manual handling to manage all mobility needs and assist with personal care. You will help meet the needs and aspirations of the individuals we support by using a person-centred approach, providing encouragement, support, and assistance, promoting social inclusion, rights, and choices under the supervision of a senior staff member and within County and Directorate procedures, as well as primary care legislation, to enable individuals to live more independent and fulfilling lives.

Relevant experience in care and support of individuals (including voluntary experience and personal experiences, as well as paid work), in the public, private, or voluntary sectors caring for adults, especially those with learning disabilities, is essential. You should have awareness of the needs of people with learning disabilities, challenging behaviour, autism, epilepsy, and other disabilities.

This role requires holding a Full UK Driving License. The Council is committed to making reasonable adjustments, so applications will be considered even if you are unable to drive due to a disability.

You are expected to hold a Diploma Level 2 in Health and Social Care, NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent, or be willing to undertake this training as part of your development. You will need to complete a satisfactory induction period, including the Care Certificate, medication workbook, and all mandatory training necessary for the role.

KCC offers benefits such as the Cycle to Work Scheme to support employees with various needs and development opportunities.

This position is considered by KCC to be customer-facing. The Council has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have sufficient command of spoken English/Welsh for effective job performance. Standards are detailed in the Job Description/Person Specification.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application through the Disclosure and Barring Service.
