We have some exciting opportunities available at Barking and Dagenham College. We are looking for Learning Support Practitioner (Personal Care) to join our Horizons team.
You will join us on a full-time permanent basis, term-time only, and in return, we will offer a competitive salary of £22,441-£24,831 pa inc London Weighting .
Please be advised that the salary is pro rata'd to 36 hours per week, 38 weeks per year.
The Learning Support Practitioner (Personal Care)-Horizons role:
To work under the supervision and guidance of the Lecturer with students with learning
difficulties and disabilities.
Key Responsibilities of our Learning Support Practitioner (Personal Care)-Horizons:
* To provide one to one support, both direct and indirect, for students with learning difficulties and disabilities following mainstream courses, primarily in the learning environment.
* To support and provide personal care alongside another member of staff, to ensure that learners can have as much independence in accessing the bathroom with privacy and dignity.
* To work with the Student Support Advisors and Student Learning Mentors adequate support for students with SEMH needs and to encourage such students to attend the College.
* To apply appropriate communication methods, suitable to the needs and preferences of the student, to enable access to information, and to facilitate two way communication.
* To assist in particular arrangements for formal student testing and assessments e.g. invigilating, reading, scribing etc.
Our ideal Specialist LSP-Horizons should have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
* A level 3 or above qualification. (E)
* Experience of providing effective coaching for students on an individual basis or in a group setting to support success and progression (E)
* Understanding of academic and vocational education in a College setting. (E)
* A high level of oral skills, both one to one and in a group setting. (E)
* Excellent written skills: able to compile clear procedures, manuals, guides etc. (E)

All staff are asked to complete mandatory training on KCSIE and other key areas, and to read the relevant policies.
