Job Description
FBR Recruitment is looking for an experienced Night Shift Health and Safety Advisor to work on a construction project in Northampton. The role will require both monitoring of a principal contractor and the candidate must be able to act on behalf of the client whilst maintaining a collaborative and positive relationship with the contractor. The successful candidate must be someone who can work independently.
Responsibilities
1. Supporting business unit directors in delivering business objectives;
2. Monitoring and working with the principal contractor appointed to complete the project;
3. Attending regular meetings with the principal contractor;
4. Providing support and assistance to the principal contractor and contractors on site;
5. Positively engaging with our client and developing, growing and maintaining our relationship;
6. Delivering a high quality service which ensures that services meet our client’s requirements;
7. Managing the client’s health safety obligations on the project to deliver a high quality service;
8. Advising and assisting the client with their duties under the CDM regulations and other construction related health and safety standards, regulations and legislations;
9. Assisting with the coordination of health and safety aspects of design work;
10. Cooperating with others involved with the project;
11. Facilitating good communication between the client, designers and contractors;
12. Liaising with the principal contractor regarding ongoing design work;
13. Producing and presenting regular reports to our main client – this will involve prompt flash reports of major issues as well as comprehensive weekly and monthly reports detailing all aspects of health and safety management on site;
14. Advising directors promptly of any issues that have arisen, or will arise, on projects; in particular those that might impact on Gleeds professional indemnity (PI) insurance.
Key Skills
1. Sound construction related health and safety management experience post Tech IOSH qualification;
2. Experience of delivering services on a live construction site;
3. Cohesive knowledge of construction methods and materials;
4. Comprehensive knowledge and practical experience of construction related health and safety management;
5. Thorough understanding of health and safety legislation relating to construction;
6. Excellent communication skills – both oral and written;
7. Methodical way of thinking and approach to work;
8. Good problem solving, negotiating skills, financial and numeracy management skills;
9. Ability to prepare first class bids for services;
10. Competent ICT skills, with a high level of proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
11. Ability to work as part of a team and lead teams.
Qualifications
1. NEBOSH Construction and General Certificates/Tech IOSH minimum (will be considered with right amount of experience and other qualifications);
2. NEBOSH Diploma/CMIOSH.
