We are a small,friendly dispensing practice serving just under 6,000 patients in beautifulSouth West Herefordshire. We are seeking a GP to join our close-knit team. Ourmain surgery is in the village of Ewyas Harold, approximately 25minutes from Hereford and 20 minutes from Abergavenny, at the heartof the stunning Golden Valley.
As a genuinely rural practice, continuity of careand strong patient relationships are central to how we work. We are proud to bewell respected and appreciated by our community and achieveda Good overall rating in our most recent CQC inspection.Since 2022, we have been a GP training practice, supporting the nextgeneration of family doctors.
Main duties of the job
* Provide safe and effective patient care in line with current clinical guidelines
* Manage patients including acute and chronic conditions
* Undertake home visits and urgent care as required
* Work collaboratively with other practice staff, including nurses, HCAs and administrative staff
* Contribute to clinical governance, audits and service development
* Maintain accurate and timely medical records and documentation
* Participate in team meetings and practice activities

We can offer:
* £12,200 - £12,932 per session (depending on experience)
* 6 weeks annual leave and 1 week study leave (pro rata)
* 15-minute appointments
* Maximum 12-13 appointments per session (capped at 25 per day)

Job responsibilities
* Provide general medical services to registered patients, including consultations, telephone triage, home visits and clinical administration
* Undertake assessment, diagnosis, investigation, treatment and management of patients with acute and long-term conditions
* Maintain accurate, timely and complete patient records in accordance with GMC and practice requirements
* Participate in the management of patients of patients with complex and multiple health needs
* Prescribe medication and treatments in line with current legislation and clinical guidance
* Contribute to the achievement of Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF), Enhanced Services and other performance targets
* Participate in practice clinical governance activities including audit, significant event review and risk management
* Attend and contribute to practice meetings, multi-disciplinary team meetings and safeguarding processes as required
* Comply with safeguarding responsibilities for both adults and children
* Work in accordance with infection control, information governance, confidentiality and health and safety policies
* Participate in appraisal and revalidation processes, maintaining appropriate continuing professional development
Person Specification
Experience
* Understanding of primary care and the GP contract
* Awareness of safeguarding procedures for adults and children
* Knowledge of QOF, Enhanced Services, and national primary care targets
* Excellent clinical and consultation skills
* Ability to make sound clinical decisions based on evidence
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills
* Good organisational and time management skills
* Ability to work independently and within a team
* Commitment to high-quality patient care and safety
* Flexibility to meet the needs of the practice
* Willingness to engage in appraisal, CPD, and revalidation processes
Qualifications
* Fully registered with the GMC and licensed to practise
* Inclusion on the NHS England Medical Performers List
* Evidence of ongoing professional development
* Experience of audit, clinical governance, and quality improvement work
* Knowledge of local health economy and community services
* Understanding of population health and health inequalities
* IT literacy with primary care systems (EMIS)
* Willingness to take on additional responsibilities within the practice
