Deputy Lead Pharmacy Technician: Aseptic Services
We at University Hospitals Dorset are looking for a highly diligent, conscientious professional to be one of our Deputy Lead Pharmacy Technician in Aseptic Services.
This is an exciting opportunity for a pharmacy technician to play a key role in supporting the unit with the preparation, quality control, and safe dispensing of cytotoxic and immunotherapy agents prepared in the Aseptic Unit in Poole.
Within our team we value all our team members and their development. The post holder will support the management of the unit and staff within our UHD Aseptic Service team.
* Full‑time (37.5 hours per week) job share considered.
* Weekend shifts 1 in 5 (Saturday or Sunday) and one or two Bank Holiday shifts per year.
* Band 5 to 6 progression considered. Training and clear objective will be set.
General Pharmaceutical Council Registration required.
Base location: Poole Hospital.

Responsibilities
To support the Lead Technician to ensure a comprehensive service complying with relevant legislation, good practices, and standard operating procedures.
The role requires extensive technical knowledge in aseptic preparation of injectable cytotoxic and immunotherapy agents. Adherence to regulatory standards and commitment to ensuring the safety and efficacy of aseptic products.
Support the leading of daily operations in the Aseptic Preparation Unit, support the ongoing QMS for the unit, and provide mentorship to junior staff.
Work alongside the aseptic team and cancer pharmacists in providing the preparation, quality control, and safe dispensing of cytotoxic and immunotherapy agents required for the delivery of chemotherapy and CIVAs products for both adult and paediatric patients.
Assist in training members of pharmacy staff.
Assist and manage the daily technical service in cancer and its future development in accordance with national, local and departmental legislation, guidelines and policies.
Assist in managing technical staff, resources, activity and information for the service and ensuring it meets the needs of the Trust’s strategy.
Assist in the quality management systems to ensure standards are met.
Assist in staff management such as rotas and appraisals.
Qualifications & Requirements
• General Pharmaceutical Council registration.
• Experience in aseptic preparation of cytotoxic and immunotherapy agents.
• Knowledge of regulatory standards and quality management systems.
• Ability to mentor junior staff and support training.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
