Responsibilities
* Provide a high standard of care by attending to aspects of patient personal hygiene, maintaining patient tissue integrity and providing pressure area care.
* Record observations and liaise with patients7 families and the general public; support colleagues to deliver a positive patient experience across settings.
* Participate in a 24/7 service with shifts that include nights, early starts, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
* Assist the registered nurse in the delivery of direct and indirect patient care.
* Report concerns to the registered nurse relating to cleanliness, hazards and patient safety; ensure updates on patient condition and progress.
* Ensure equipment is clean and in good working order; maintain a clean and tidy environment.
* Participate in induction of staff new to the clinical area; minimize hazards and report identifiable hazards to the line manager; adhere to safe systems of work.
* Demonstrate effective communication, both orally and in writing, and maintain confidentiality.
* Promote awareness of child protection and adult protection issues; attend relevant training in accordance with policy.
* Support the Trust to deliver high quality care and contribute to patient pathways through collaboration with partners.
* Wye Valley NHS Trust is a member of an NHS Foundation Group with several partner trusts; located on the border with Wales, providing acute and community services across Herefordshire and parts of Powys.
Ideal candidate
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to respond to different communication needs of patients.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team; patient care should be at the forefront of your expertise.
Location and hours
* Shifts include a mix of nights, early starts, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
