Job overview

Specialty doctor in old age psychiatry based at the outpatient department in the Rochdale borough.

Full time 10 sessions post to support Rochdale older people's East Sector team. Working along side the Consultant Psychiatrist. and the GP trainee.


Main duties of the job

To provide consistent and experienced medical support to the team. Providing assessments and management of new referrals and follow clinics and home visits. Medical input into the memory clinic and management of patients on the ward.

MBBS or equivalent is essential, MRCPsych or equivalent desirable. Section 12 approval or working towards approval essential.

Minimum of 4 years in Psychiatry at CT,ST or SG level.

Person specification


Education/qualification


Essential criteria

* MBBS or equivalent
* Section 12 approval or willingness to seek approval


Desirable criteria

* MRCPsych or equivalent
* Registered as completed Higher Training with the Royal College of Psychiatrists
* Progress towards additional Post Graduate Degree, such as Msc or MD


Skills/Knowledge


Essential criteria

* Good Interpersonal and team working skills
* Leadership skills
* Knowledge of relevant requirements and legislation such as the Mental Health Act, Care Programme Approach etc


Desirable criteria

* An additional area of relevant special interest.
* Actively involved in continuing professional development


Experience


Essential criteria

* A minimum of 4 years in Psychiatry at CT, ST or Staff Grade level at least 1 years of these should be in Old Age psychiatry
* Experience relevant to Old Age Psychiatry
* Experience of teaching and training


Desirable criteria

* Experience of management
* Experience of service development and planning
* Experience of Forensic or Intensive Care services
* Worked for a total of 10years since primary qualification (which is acceptable by GMC for full/limited or temporary registration)

What happens after your application has been received?

You will be informed about the progress of your application following shortlisting via email. Only applicants who clearly demonstrate the criteria listed in the person specification will be shortlisted for interview. Interview invites will be sent out via email.

What happens if I am offered the position after interview?

The hiring manager will make contact with you to verbally offer you the position. The hiring manager will then inform Recruitment of the decision and provide relevant paperwork. You will be sent a formal conditional offer via email.

What pre-employment checks will I need to complete?

By conducting pre-employment checks, the recruitment team will verify that you meet the pre-conditions of the role you have been offered. Pre-employment checks will be carried out according to. The checks are:

* Identity verification
* Right to work check
* Disclosure and barring service (DBS)/Criminal record check (dependent on role)
* Professional registration and/or qualification check
* Occupational health assessment
* Employment history and reference validation

All applicants external to the NHS will be required to provide their to cover the most recent three years employment. This information will used to validate employment history and references as part of pre-employment checks.

What happens when pre-employment checks are complete?
