The starting salary for this role is £47,142 per annum based on working 36 hours per week. This is a 2 year fixed term contract opportunity.

We are excited to be hiring a Compute Infrastructure Senior Officer to support our IT and Digital team based at our Woodhatch Place office in Reigate. Our team follows a hybrid schedule, working in the office two days per week.

As a Compute Infrastructure Senior Officer, you will work in the Compute Infrastructure Team which is part of the Enterprise Technology function which is a core IT function within the IT & Digital Service as it underpins the running of all the council's operations. This is a particularly complex environment requiring specialist skillsets in a constantly changing technology landscape.

The team is responsible for the management of a large virtualisation infrastructure and server estate, as well as end user device build and management, including productivity tools.

In this role, you will support the Compute Infrastructure Team Manager in ensuring the secure, reliable, and compliant operation of the Council's IT estate. You will play a key role in managing cyber‑security risks, with a particular focus on patching, vulnerability remediation, and compliance across servers and endpoint platforms. This involves using modern tools and techniques to identify, assess, and remediate vulnerabilities across a complex enterprise environment.

You will contribute to the development and implementation of security policies, standards and processes, ensuring they align with regulatory and organisational requirements. Working collaboratively across IT&D, you will help drive timely remediation of vulnerabilities and support secure, efficient service delivery.

The role involves providing tactical advice to colleagues and managers alike, helping shape secure operational practices and ensuring our compute infrastructure remains robust and well‑managed. You will also support a range of initiatives and improvements that help the Council deliver its priorities for communities, residents, and services.

Your Application

In order to be considered for shortlisting, your application will clearly evidence the following skills and align with our behaviours:

Experience in patching, configuration, device management and vulnerability compliance management, using tools such as Microsoft SCCM, Intune or Azure Arc.
Good technical knowledge of compute and endpoint platforms.
Managing vulnerabilities from detection through to remediation.
Good problem analysis, trouble-shooting and technical problem resolution skills, coupled with working understanding of service delivery frameworks such as iTIL and relevant policies and procedures to ensure resources are efficiently used.
Clear communication, accurate record keeping, and effective workload management.
