An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit an ambitious candidate to strengthen our Development Management Team. The department is going from strength to strength, having been awarded the East Midlands Local Planning Authority Team of the Year in 2024 and receiving a commendation in the East Midlands Young Planner of the Year category in 2025. To complement our existing team and successful recruitment in the spring, we are ideally looking for an experienced Planning Officer or Senior Planning Officer; however other grades will be considered. Either way, we want to support and develop your skills to perform and progress as a professional planner.
Working as a Career Grade Planner you will play an important role in managing a varied caseload of all types of planning applications, pre-application enquiries, and appeals. We have a wide range of development proposals from urban extensions, large employment uses, proposals in sensitive locations and rural development applications. Further, we are progressing our Local Plan, with a next stage of public consultation due later this year. You will be an excellent communicator, comfortable with handling conflict and negotiating solutions to challenging problems. We will also give you the opportunity to broaden your skills and gain valuable experience to support your career development.
The career progression scheme explains the expectations for each job level within the scheme. If your application is successful, you will be appointed at the appropriate scale and starting salary, depending on your skills and experience.
