Diabetes Specialist Nurse
Department: Medicine Diabetes | Band 7 | Hours: 37.5 per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working
Milton Keynes University Hospital is seeking an experienced and motivated Band 7 Inpatient Diabetes Specialist Nurse to join our Diabetes and Endocrinology team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting high-quality diabetes care for inpatients across the Trust.
Responsibilities
* Delivering specialist input for patients with complex diabetes needs.
* Supporting ward staff with timely advice, education and clinical guidance.
* Contributing to inpatient diabetes safety initiatives, audits and quality improvement.
* Acting as a visible clinical leader and role model across the Trust.
* Working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to optimise patient outcomes.
* To provide expert care and advice to all patients with different types of Diabetes who attend the hospital either as an inpatient or outpatient.
* To reduce the impact of symptoms and improve the quality of care for patients with diabetes, including optimising treatment and providing education and support for patients and their families and carers.
* To take the lead role in the development and delivery of expert education and training in the area of diabetes for other health professionals and stakeholders.
* To act independently and when necessary in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to ensure patients receive optimal care.
Qualifications
* Significant post registration experience in diabetes care.
* Confidence managing complex diabetes presentations.
* Strong communication, teaching and leadership abilities.
