Job Title: History Teacher Location: Barnsley (S70, S71) Salary: Up to £220 per day (depending on experience) Start Date: Immediate Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time Are you a motivated and passionate History Teacher ready to inspire students with engaging lessons that bring the past to life? GSL Education are currently looking for a dedicated History Teacher to work in schools across Barnsley (S70, S71), delivering high-quality teaching across key stages 3, 4 and 5. As a History Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging and thought-provoking lessons that develop students’ understanding of historical events, themes, and perspectives. You will encourage critical thinking, analysis, and debate while supporting students in achieving their full academic potential. Responsibilities: Plan and deliver high-quality History lessons across key stages 3, 4 and 5 Teach a broad and balanced curriculum including British, European, and world history Prepare students for internal assessments and external examinations Maintain effective classroom management and promote positive behaviour Differentiate lessons to support students of varying abilities and learning needs Assess, monitor, and provide constructive feedback on student progress Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development Requirements: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or equivalent teaching qualification Degree in History or a related subject Experience teaching History within a secondary school setting Strong subject knowledge and classroom management skills Excellent communication and organisational abilities Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or completing a new application.
