A prestigious and high-achieving secondary school in Birmingham is seeking a commercially aware and intellectually curious Business & Economics ECT to join its Social Sciences faculty this September. This is a brilliant opportunity to teach a high-uptake subject in a school that values academic rigour and prepares students for the global marketplace. As an ECT, you will benefit from a structured induction period, including weekly mentor meetings and opportunities to lead on enterprise initiatives and external business competitions. The Role Teaching Business and Economics at KS4 (GCSE) and KS5 (A-Level/BTEC). Delivering complex content covering marketing, finance, global trade, and macroeconomic theory. Planning lessons that develop students' analytical skills and ability to evaluate contemporary case studies. Supporting pupils with external examination preparation and vocational portfolio development. Promoting professional literacy and commercial awareness through debate and research. Coordinating or assisting with enterprise challenges, such as Young Enterprise or Dragons' Den style events. Engaging in the statutory ECT induction sessions and collaborative departmental planning. The Ideal Candidate Will Have Currently working towards or recently completed Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). A strong academic background with a degree in Business, Economics, or a related discipline. A passion for staying current with global economic trends and business innovation. The ability to simplify complex financial and commercial concepts for diverse learners. Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to inspire aspirational students. A professional, organised, and positive approach to departmental teamwork.
