First Aid Officer
* Annual Salary: £26,403 - £26,824 (pro rata)
* Location: Horsham
* Job Type: Full-time, Term Time Only
We are seeking a dedicated First Aid Officer to join our team. This role is crucial in managing all medical and welfare concerns for our students. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the Medical Room, managing medical issues, and ensuring the health and safety of students during school hours.
Day-to-day of the role
* Manage all medical issues and First Aid, liaising with parents and staff as appropriate, and giving advice as required.
* Oversee the Medical Room and other Emergency First Aiders.
* Provide first aid assessment and treatment as necessary, within the scope of the Emergency First Aid at work training.
* Act as Lead First Aider, assessing student needs and taking appropriate actions such as treating the student, contacting parents/carers, or referring to emergency services.
* Advise on and oversee the Managing Medicines policy and contribute to its review.
* Maintain school first aid boxes, travelling first aid kits, and other first aid equipment.
* Perform administrative tasks associated with the First Aid room, including maintaining records on the MIS system.
* Manage the register for the administration of controlled drugs and maintain records of student medications.
* Use the Bromcom management system effectively (training provided).
* Ensure accurate recording and updating of student medical issues on the MIS system.
* Arrange staff training for specific student medical needs and liaise with outside agencies as needed.
* Lead on the provision of information for school trips regarding medical conditions and medications.
* Maintain an up-to-date register of qualified First Aiders and lead the delivery of the Immunisation Programme in Schools.
Required Skills & Qualifications
* Good ICT skills with proficiency in Word and Excel.
* Experience in a similar role, ideally within an educational setting.
* Strong organizational and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Training in Emergency First Aid at work (or willingness to undergo this training).
