Join Our Team as a Support Worker!
At Turning Point, we are dedicated to providing top-notch, person-centered support that truly makes a difference in the lives of individuals and communities. We are currently on the lookout for passionate support workers to join our team in Cheltenham, specifically in Woodmancote and Hatherley.
Where Will You Be Working?
You will be part of our vibrant supported living services in Cheltenham (GL51 or GL52). Here, we provide 24-hour support to individuals with learning disabilities (LD) and Autism. The care you provide will vary, from assisting those with profound disabilities and complex health needs to helping others with daily activities, personal care, medication, and mobility.
We believe in fostering positive family relationships and creating a supportive environment. Our focus is on empowering individuals to live independently through various activities, including shopping, managing budgets, and cooking.
Shift Patterns
This is a 24-hour service, so flexibility is key! You will work a variety of shifts, including:
* 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM
* 2:00 PM to 9:30 PM
* Floating shifts during the day
* Some weekends (mandatory)
Please note: Weekend work is essential, and you should be available for at least 3-4 shifts a week.
Your Role and Responsibilities
What Will You Be Doing?
This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same! Your responsibilities will include:
* Promoting the independence of the individuals we support
* Assisting with daily activities such as cleaning, cooking, and outings
* Organizing activities both at home and in the community
* Helping residents develop life skills and personal interests
* Ensuring the safety and well-being of residents
* Providing personal care support
* Manual handling as required
* Assisting with medication management
* Maintaining accurate records and contributing to service monitoring

What Skills and Qualities Do You Need?
While experience with learning disabilities and complex needs is a plus, it’s not a deal-breaker. What truly matters is that you are:
* Passionate, caring, and enthusiastic
* Flexible, patient, and non-judgmental
* A great team player with plenty of energy
* Skilled in communication
* Able to handle the physical aspects of the role, including manual handling
* Experienced in helping individuals manage anxiety
