An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Specialty for a Deputy Sister, Band 6 with 2 years post graduate experience. We offer a supportive teamwork structure and an opportunity to further your leadership and management skills.
We are looking for a dedicated, patient focused deputy sister, who is committed to providing the highest standards of nursing care for our patient’s in dermatology including light therapy, photodynamic therapy and specialist clinics.
Responsibilities
* Act as a role model and a teacher, working alongside other staff and visiting patients in the waiting areas to ensure standards of care are maintained and patient experience meets expectations.
* Support the Matron in seeking/evaluating appropriate findings to implement Evidence-Based Practice and the continual improvement of dermatology care.
* Improve and maintain standards of essential nursing care by working with the Lead Nurse and using the tools such as clinical benchmarking, clinical audit and professional guidelines.
* Ensure high quality, Evidence Base Care is offered to the patients and, with the Lead Nurse, identify the common issues which affect the quality of care, devising clear action plans to address any shortcomings ensuring agreed action is undertaken.
* Work with the Matron and other Deputy Sister colleagues to ensure appropriate staff numbers and skills are scheduled on a daily basis, deploying staff appropriately according to their skills and experience, liaising with other members of the multidisciplinary team and departments as appropriate.
* Undertake performance review appraisals annually and facilitate team members objectives and personal development plans.
* Undertake return to work sickness/absence reviews in conjunction with the Matron/deputy sister.
* Identify hazards relating to clinical and non-clinical risks and undertake identified risk assessments. Ensure that the junior staffs also see this as important, by maintaining a culture which will support the delivery of both clinical and non-clinical governance within the department.
