Apprenticeship Overview
The apprenticeship commences in September 2026 and combines on‑the‑job learning with a Level 3 Manufacturing and Engineering Technician Apprenticeship through Gloucestershire Engineering Training (GET). Your first year will be spent full‑time at college with shutdown periods at the workplace; thereafter you will attend college one day per week while spending the rest of the time on‑site. Your primary focus will be to assemble and test L3Harris Technology’s product ranges to a defined demand plan in accordance with build/test instructions.
Key Learning Areas
* Following technical drawings, bills of materials, work instructions and assembly diagrams to build electronic components and products
* Learning quality standards within manufacturing such as IPC (Institute of Printed Circuits)
* Using testing equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, automated test rigs) to test and inspect finished products
* Supporting process improvements through lean manufacturing and waste reduction
* Understanding how products are designed and manufactured
* Working alongside engineers and technicians to build the required skill set
Responsibilities
* Assemble and test L3Harris Technology products
* Troubleshoot and fault‑find electronic and electro‑mechanical assemblies
* Operate within approved processes and procedures, ensuring all products are right the first time
* Assist manufacturing and engineering with prototype assembly, testing and new product introduction
* Identify root causes and suggest corrective actions and preventive measures
* Maintain accurate records in line with the L3Harris Quality Management System
* Conduct all business activity in line with company values, policies and ethics codes of conduct
Qualifications and Skills
* Five GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 9‑4, including Maths, English and a science subject
* Strong attention to detail, logical problem‑solving skills and initiative
* Excellent organisational and time‑management skills to balance work and study
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team, demonstrated by extracurricular or group project experience
* Resilience and adaptability in a fast‑paced environment
* High proactivity and motivation to maintain strong academic and workplace performance
* Ideal interest in technology
