Greenlaw Surgery
Greenlaw surgery is a ‘one whole time equivalent’ GP practice in the Scottish Borders serving around 1500 patients.
The practice is currently run by 2 part time GP partners; the senior GP partner is retiring at the end of March 2026 after 20 years in the practice.
Normal session rotation for the existing GPs would be 4 sessions one week and 6 sessions the following week. Days worked in the practice would be solo with the help of the practice team.
The practice is located in a Borders Health Board property, meaning no capital buy-in is required for the premises.
We are dedicated to providing a quality service and excellent standard of patient care, reflected in NHS Scotland patient satisfaction surveys where our results have placed us as one of the top rated GP practices in Scotland.
The Greenlaw Team
* 2 GP partners 50/50 job share
* Admin/Reception team
* Part time practice manager (remote worker)
* District nursing team covering Greenlaw surgery based at Coldstream Health Centre.
Running of the practice
The practice offers a simple patient friendly approach. Patients phone the surgery to request appointments and can request face to face or a telephone consultation. We run morning and afternoon surgeries every day with the exception of Wednesday PM. Wednesday PM is reserved for admin time for the GP and only emergency consultations offered if required. Our patients understand this system and it has successfully run for many years.
Wednesday is normally the day that the GP partners work alternate weeks so that they both benefit from the admin time.
Patients can normally get a same day appointment; it would be unusual for them to wait any longer than 48 hours to see a GP. This results in happy patients and a more relaxed working atmosphere. All GP appointments are 15 minutes long with additional catch up slots and tea breaks in every session.
Earnings and annual leave
The partnership attracts competitive earnings.
Annual leave currently 6 weeks but negotiable with GP partner.
