Nature of the position:
As a (Senior) Service and Validation Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality validation and service support for PHC biomedical equipment at customer sites across the UK and internationally. This role requires a proactive, customer-focused professional with the flexibility and willingness to travel as needed.
Your primary focus will be on Validation activities, ensuring equipment meets regulatory and performance standards through thorough testing and documentation. Service support will be your secondary responsibility, involving maintenance, troubleshooting, and customer training to ensure optimal product performance.
You will work closely with the Validation Business Manager and Service Manager to grow and enhance the Service and Validation offering, contributing to continuous improvement and customer satisfaction. This is a hands-on, field-based role that combines technical expertise with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities and Expected Outcomes
As a (Senior) Service and Validation Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality technical support across two core areas: validation of biomedical equipment and after-sales service and maintenance. Your role is customer-facing, field-based, and central to ensuring PHC’s products perform to the highest standards.
Core Responsibilities
Customer-Focused Validation
8. Lead validation activities at customer sites primarily across the UK, ensuring equipment meets regulatory and performance standards.
9. Liaise with customers to confirm requirements, explain validation procedures, and agree on schedules.
10. Adapt to changing customer needs during validation, clearly communicating any technical or commercial implications.
11. Investigate and report product anomalies to the Validation Business Manager or Technical Support colleagues as appropriate.
12. Support the development and enhancement of validation protocols, incorporating new technologies and customer expectations.
13. Deliver training on validation procedures to both customers and internal engineers, providing hands-on support during validation projects to ensure consistency, quality, and knowledge transfer across the team.
14. Represent PHC in customer meetings to promote validation services and support sales efforts.
Service Delivery and Product Maintenance
15. Perform installation, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on PHC equipment.
16. Maintain up-to-date product knowledge and share insights with colleagues to support team development.
17. Work with colleagues to ensure all tools and equipment are compliant, calibrated, and ready for use.
18. Collaborate with Service Administration for efficient job planning and scheduling.
19. Adhere to Health & Safety regulations and customer site protocols.
20. Deliver exceptional customer service through professional conduct, clear communication, and technical expertise.
21. Complete service reports promptly to support accurate invoicing and customer follow-up.
22. Promote service contracts and contribute to business growth through proactive customer engagement.

23. Be available for international travel to support global validation and service activities.
24. Continuously develop your technical skills and understanding of validation standards, instrumentation, and service best practices.

Collaboration and Communication
26. Work closely with customers to deliver exceptional service and validation support, ensuring clear communication and a positive experience throughout each engagement.
27. Maintain regular interaction with your direct supervisor and the service planner to coordinate activities and ensure efficient scheduling.
28. Collaborate frequently with colleagues across the Service, Warehouse, Administration, and Sales departments to support seamless operations and customer satisfaction.
Desired Qualifications and Experience

Education:
29. Ideally, a vocational qualification in refrigeration engineering or a related technical discipline.
30. Equivalent experience or training in validation, biomedical engineering, or instrumentation will also be considered.
Experience:
31. Minimum of 3 years experience in service engineering, validation, or a similar technical field is preferred.
32. Candidates with less experience but strong technical aptitude and a willingness to learn will also be considered.
Technical Knowledge:
33. Familiarity with thermodynamics and European validation standards is desirable.
34. Experience with biomedical or laboratory equipment is a plus.
35. Comfort with software tools used for measurement and data logging is beneficial.
