The role is within the Vale of Glamorgan’s Specialist Provision which is part of the Vale of Glamorgan’s Wellbeing and ALN Directorate. The job is based within the Specialist Resource Base at Ysgol Gwaun Y Nant.
The role will entail working with pupils within the Primary age range, within the resource base and across the Vale of Glamorgan through Outreach. The role entails supervision of other LSAs and liaison with Specialist teacher.
You would be part of small but energetic and supportive team who are passionate about supporting pupils with ALN.

30 hours : 5 days a week
Grade 6, spinal point 14-19

Main place of work : Ysgol Gwaun Y Nant, Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, but extend across the Vale of Glamorgan in schools and EY settings
Description:
An exciting opportunity to join our supportive team at the Centre of Excellence in Ysgol Gwaun Y Nant. The role involves supporting pupils with social communication, interaction or regulation difficulties needs, to access the curriculum using a variety of specialist strategies and enabling them to be fully involved in all aspects of school life. On a day to day basis, this entails in class support for individual pupils and one to one or small group work within the Resource Base.
The successful candidate will work with pupils with social communication, interaction or regulation difficulties needs across Progression steps 1 to 3.
The role may requires supporting the Specialist Teacher with outreach / transition work in other schools within the Vale of Glamorgan when required.

About you
The successful candidate will, be an excellent practitioner, with a good level of Welsh and Maths and could be a good role model.
The successful candidate would have an interest and passion for ALN and specifically ASD and Anxiety.
You will need to have :
1. Understanding of the different educational and social needs of pupils with social communication, interaction or regulation difficulties needs and additional learning needs and the effects of social communication, interaction or regulation difficulties needs on learning
2. Previous and recent experience working with children in a primary setting
3. Ability to support pupils with social communication, interaction or regulation difficulties needs across all curriculum areas
4. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
5. Good analytical and problem solving skills
6. Able to work independently with initiative but also as part of a team
7. Good organisation skills
8. Willing and able to learn new skills
9. Ability to promote pupils’ independent learning
10. Prepared to undertake relevant training as required
11. Willing to carry out outreach work under direction of the Specialist Teacher as required
12. a desire to work with and inspire other LSAs
