Civilian Investigator – Location: Sleaford Police Station
Contract: Fixed-term until 31 March 2026
Hours: 37 per week, Monday to Friday (08:00-16:00)
Rate: £17.50 PAYE per hour; £20.76 per hour (umbrella rate)
Lincolnshire Police is seeking a dedicated Civilian Investigator to join the Major Crime Unit (MCU). You will play a key role in investigating serious crime, interviewing suspects, victims, and witnesses, and gathering evidence from multiple sources. The role requires preparing high-quality case files in line with legislation and ensuring compliance with the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act (CPIA) and the Victims\' Code of Practice.
Responsibilities
* Investigate serious crime as part of the Major Crime Unit (MCU).
* Interview suspects, victims, and witnesses; gather and evaluate evidence from multiple sources.
* Prepare high-quality case files in accordance with legislation, CPIA, and the Victims\' Code of Practice.
Qualifications / Training
* Evidence of investigative training (e.g., PIP Level 1 or equivalent).
* Demonstrable knowledge of relevant legislation including CPIA and disclosure obligations.
* Full UK driving licence.
Experience
* Proven experience in conducting criminal investigations.
* Experience interviewing victims, witnesses, and suspects, including those who are vulnerable or significant witnesses.
* Experience in preparing case files to court standards.
* Experience of working with partner agencies in safeguarding or criminal justice settings.
Skills / Knowledge
* Strong understanding of investigative procedures, case file management, and evidence handling.
* Proficient in using police IT systems and intelligence databases.
* Ability to gather, assess, and apply intelligence to support investigations.
* Effective written and verbal communication with the ability to present evidence clearly in court.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
* Awareness of safeguarding principles and procedures.

Vetting / Other Requirements
Candidates must provide valid ID (passport and utility bill within 3 months) at interview.
