Secondary QTS Tutor – Newcastle

Prospero Teaching is recruiting Secondary QTS Tutors in Newcastle to work with Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students who are currently out of school due to SEND, SEMH needs, permanent exclusion, or emotional barriers to learning.
This is a rewarding opportunity for patient, nurturing teachers or tutors who are passionate about re-engaging young people through personalised education and relationship-based learning.
About the Role
As a QTS Tutor in Newcastle, you will deliver 1:1 or small group tuition to secondary-aged students who are not accessing full-time education.
Many learners have experienced disrupted education and may lack confidence in learning. You will provide a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment, helping students rebuild trust in education and progress academically.
Tuition takes place face-to-face in community settings such as youth centres, family hubs, or community venues across Newcastle.
Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver Maths and English tuition at GCSE and Functional Skills (Entry Level 3, Level 1 and Level 2)
2. Plan and deliver individualised lessons to address learning gaps
3. Support students with SEND, ADHD, SEMH, and behavioural needs
4. Track progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly
5. Build positive relationships to improve engagement and confidence
6. Complete daily attendance records and weekly progress reports
Role Details
7. Location: Newcastle
8. Pay: Up to £30 per hour (dependent on experience and qualifications)
9. Hours: Up to 6 hours per week per student
10. Start Date: September 2025
11. Contract: Ongoing, with the goal of reintegration into mainstream education
12. Access to a Resource Hub with teaching materials
13. Access to CPD-accredited training and courses
Requirements
To be considered for this Secondary QTS Tutor job in Newcastle, you must have:
14. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS
15. Experience working with SEND, SEMH, ADHD, or excluded students (PRU experience desirable)
16. A calm, flexible, and empathetic approach to teaching
17. Right to work in the UK
18. An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
19. Ability to provide two years of education references
