Contract Opportunity: Design Engineer / Senior Design Engineer (Layout) - (Creo) - Potential Long Term Contract - Some Flexible Working
We are partnering with a leading global commercial vehicle manufacturer to offer an exciting contract opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer. This role provides a chance to work on innovative vehicle layout projects within a dynamic and supportive engineering team. We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer or Senior Design Engineer to join our client's vehicle layout team. This contract role is ideal for professionals proficient in CREO with a background in automotive engineering. Experience in vehicle packaging is advantageous but not mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
3D Modelling & Assembly: Utilise CREO to develop detailed 3D models and assemblies for vehicle components.
Technical Documentation: Generate comprehensive manufacturing drawings and documentation to support production processes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including chassis, systems, and manufacturing departments, to ensure cohesive design integration.
Design Optimisation: Apply Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles, conduct tolerance analysis, and participate in Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) to enhance product quality and manufacturability.
Change Management: Implement engineering change control processes and maintain Product Data Management (PDM) system integrity to ensure accurate and up-to-date design data.
Required Qualifications & Skills
CREO Proficiency: Strong experience with CREO (versions 6-8 or later) for 3D modelling and detailing.
Automotive Engineering Experience: Proven background in automotive engineering, with a focus on component design and integration.
Communication & Problem-Solving: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, coupled with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Work Arrangement: Ability to commit to on-site work initially, transitioning to a hybrid working model thereafter.
Desirable Experience
Vehicle Layout & Packaging: Experience in vehicle layout, packaging, or integration, contributing to efficient space utilisation and component arrangement.
Advanced Modelling Techniques: Knowledge of surface modelling, Design for Assembly (DFMA), and tolerance stack-ups to optimise design efficiency and manufacturability
