East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting Band 2 Healthcare Support Workers for the following hospitals: William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate and Kent & Canterbury Hospital in Canterbury. The majority of positions are in Surgical, Medical, Admission wards and the Emergency Department. Full‑time and part‑time hours (minimum 30 hours per week) are available, but nursing is carried out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, so full flexibility is required.
Main duties of the job
The NHS is currently experiencing a unique situation with unprecedented challenges. East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust is committed to developing staff. Healthcare Support Workers will undertake a variety of responsibilities as part of patient care and support, including:
* Carrying out routine personal care duties with supervision available.
* Assisting patients with basic needs and supporting nursing staff.
* Maintaining a safe and clean environment for patients, visitors and staff.
* Recording and communicating patient information accurately.
Qualifications & Training
* GCSE grades D‑G or level 1 equivalent in Maths and English (or higher).
* Completed Care Certificate.
Clinical skills and experience
* Experience of working with people, ideally in front‑line patient care.
* Basic computer/keyboard skills.
Governance
* Adheres to Trust policies.
* Will comply with the Data Protection Act, Caldicott Guidelines and local confidentiality policies.
* Act under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 to maintain a safe working environment.
