We're working with a specialist provision in the South Shields area that is preparing for the new academic year and looking to welcome dedicated Behaviour Support Assistants to their team. This unique setting operates across two sites and supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school provides a nurturing, therapeutic approach, helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes. We're looking for a resilient, patient and proactive Behaviour Support Assistant who is passionate about supporting young people to thrive both inside and outside the classroom. What you'll be doing • Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs • Supporting pupils to regulate emotions and develop positive coping strategies • Building positive relationships and acting as a trusted adult • Helping pupils engage with learning and classroom activities • Working closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams and external professionals • Monitoring and recording pupil progress, behaviour and wellbeing What we're looking for • A genuine passion for supporting young people • A calm, patient and consistent approach • Strong communication and relationship-building skills • Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs or additional needs • The ability to remain resilient in challenging situations • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply) What you can expect from Protocol • Weekly PAYE pay • Ongoing support from a consultant who genuinely cares • Free CPD and online training opportunities All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
