About The Role

Do you want to be at the forefront of one of the world’s most ambitious sustainability initiatives? Balfour Beatty has been selected by bp (British Petroleum) to construct a first‑of‑a‑kind fully integrated gas‑fired power station with carbon capture and storage, a key driving force behind plans to make Teesside the UK’s first decarbonised industrial cluster. We are seeking a dynamic Assistant Planner to contribute to our Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.


What You’ll Be Doing

* Ensuring programme content is functionally compliant with planning procedures and guidance.
* Developing a logical sequence and methodology for tender, ensuring an efficient design, procurement and construction strategy, under supervision of Lead Planner.
* Producing and documenting planning deliverables, including programmes, planning philosophy, presentations, reports, tender programme and supporting information.
* Assisting the planning team in production, management and maintenance of the contract programme, in accordance with planning procedures.
* Supporting Lead Planner in implementation and maintenance of project controls for scheduling, including monthly reports.
* Providing support to BIM Coordinators to meet project requirements or tender submission deliverables.
* Aiding the planning team to produce project data and KPIs to track progress, identify deviations, and drive data‑driven decisions.


Who We’re Looking For

* Knowledge of project‑management tools and software (Excel, MS Project, Primavera P6, ASTA).
* Basic understanding of project planning principles, scheduling and progress monitoring.
* Basic understanding of tender/contract documents and specifications.
* Familiarity with project‑management methodologies.
* Prior exposure to project planning through internships, coursework or entry‑level positions.
* Practical experience using project planning software.
* Teamwork and communication skills from collaborative projects.
* Experience in construction or transferable sectors.
* Analytical and problem‑solving skills.
* Data and process management skills.
* Strong communication and time‑management skills.
