The opportunity
This is a fixed-term contract for 12 months with the possibility of extension. As Tax Manager, you’ll focus on leading people and processes, overseeing compliance reviews and sign-offs, and driving tax-efficient projects. You’ll manage the day-to-day operations of the tax function, keeping the Head of Finance fully informed. You will also nurture a team culture built on ownership, quality, and excellence.

Responsibilities
* Set standards for excellence in the tax function, ensuring high-quality output and advice.
* Lead and manage the tax team, including three direct reports and advisers.
* Handle complex tax areas such as VAT, corporation tax, EGL, Corporate Interest Restriction, and stay updated on legislation like BEPS Pillar II and transfer pricing.
* Support tax strategies for mergers, acquisitions, and disposals.
* Oversee tax integration for new acquisitions, ensuring compliance.
* Implement and manage the Tax Control Framework.
* Build relationships with stakeholders, shareholders, and investors.
* Step into operational duties as needed, maintaining team motivation.
* Collaborate with the Head of Finance on tax strategy and operations.
Qualifications
* ACA, CTA, or equivalent qualification.
* 3-6 years post-qualification experience, preferably in a large accounting firm or in-house.
* Proven team management skills.
* Ability to work independently under pressure and manage ambiguity.
* Strong communication skills, capable of explaining complex issues simply.
* Willingness to challenge and innovate.
* Ability to build relationships across finance and non-finance teams, including external advisers and HMRC.
* High professionalism and integrity.
