Manchester’s transformation as the world’s first industrial city shaped many of the ideas and institutions that underpin modern human resource management (HRM) and employment relations. At Alliance Manchester Business School, we invite an internationally recognised scholar to join us as Professor in Human Resource Management and/or Employment Relations, contributing world-leading research with a strong focus on academic, societal and economic impact in any thematic area within these fields.

As we mark our 60th anniversary in 2025, AMBS is at the heart of an ambitious £1.7bn investment in Sister a pioneering innovation district designed to become one of the world’s leading collaborative ecosystems for nurturing talent and shaping the future of work and society. Within this dynamic environment, you’ll engage with fundamental questions about the changing world of work and collaborate with the Work and Equalities Institute (WEI) a leading UK research institute dedicated to advancing more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable employment contribute to dialogue and debate with key stakeholders and policymakers, and make informed contributions to policy formation and the development of practice.

This prestigious position is open to distinguished senior scholars as well as to professors at an earlier career stage who can demonstrate outstanding potential to become future academic leaders. We particularly welcome applicants whose research aligns to the strategic themes of the Work and Equalities Institute (WEI).
